Choosing traction
Ice cleats and spikes are for icy paths and packed snow on ordinary boots; crampons with front points are for steep ice and snow and need stiff boots made for them. Check the shoe sizes each size fits, and take them off on rock and indoors.
Eighteen spikes on two plates
- Toe and heel plates: the forefoot plate and the heel plate carry the 18 stainless steel spikes between them.
- Silicone harness: stretches over the toe and hooks round the heel, so no straps to buckle.
- Linked plates: rings join the plates to the harness, so the spikes follow the sole as it flexes.
- Packs small: the pair rolls up into the drawstring bag that comes with it.
These are walking crampons for icy paths, frozen tracks and snowy trails; they are not a technical crampon for steep ice or climbing. The pair weighs about 331 g (supplier-stated). Pick the size by your shoe size and pull them on before you reach the ice.

Frequently asked questions
Do they fit over hiking boots? Yes. The silicone harness stretches over walking shoes and hiking boots in the size range you pick.
Can I walk on bare rock or pavement in them? Only for a few steps. Take them off where the ice ends, as rock and tarmac blunt the spikes and feel unsteady underfoot.
How do I store them? Let them dry, then roll the pair into the bag so the spikes do not catch on the rest of your pack.
