Choosing a size

As a rule of thumb, a day hike needs 15 to 30 litres, a night or two away 30 to 50 litres, and a longer trip 50 litres or more. Measure your back from the bony point at the base of the neck down to the top of the hip bones and compare it with the pack's back length where it is given.

A full daypack that packs to the size of a fist

  • Main compartment: a zipped main section with a two-way zip.
  • Front pocket: a zipped pocket for keys, phone and snacks.
  • Bungee cord: an elastic cord laced across the front with a cord lock, for a jacket or a sit mat.
  • Side pockets: two stretch mesh pockets for a bottle or an umbrella.
  • Mesh shoulder straps: adjustable straps with an airy mesh face.
  • Stuff pouch: the pack folds into a drawstring pouch of about 17 x 10 cm.

The thin polyester shell is water-repellent (supplier-stated): it sheds a shower, but seams and zips are not sealed, so keep a phone or papers in a plastic bag in heavy rain. There is no back padding or hip belt, so it suits light loads for a day out rather than heavy gear.

Hand wash in cool water with a little mild soap and hang it to dry before folding it back into the pouch.

Frequently asked questions

Will a laptop fit? A thin tablet fits the main compartment, but there is no padded sleeve, so a laptop is better carried in a padded bag.

How small does it fold? It folds into its own pouch of about 17 x 10 cm, small enough for a jacket pocket or the lid of a bigger pack.
