Choosing a size

As a rule of thumb, a day hike needs 15 to 30 litres, a night or two away 30 to 50 litres, and a longer trip 50 litres or more. Measure your back from the bony point at the base of the neck down to the top of the hip bones and compare it with the pack's back length where it is given.

Room for a week, carried on the hips

  • Main compartment: a drawcord top opening under a lid, with space for a sleeping bag, clothes and food.
  • Lid pocket: a zipped pocket on top for a phone, map and snacks.
  • Back system: padded shoulder straps, a chest strap and a padded hip belt spread the load; a mesh panel lets air move across the back.
  • Side mesh pockets: for a water bottle within reach.
  • Hydration sleeve: an inner sleeve for a water bladder.
  • Compression and gear straps: side compression straps and attachment points for poles and extra kit.
  • Rain cover: stored in a pocket at the base of the pack.

The pack weighs about 1.08 kg and the supplier gives a maximum load of 30 kg. The ripstop nylon has a water-repellent coating (supplier-stated); in heavy rain, pull the rain cover over it. The pack carries the maker's name and logo on the lid and front, as in the photos.

Care and cleaning

Empty the pack, brush off dirt and sponge it with mild soapy water. Let it dry fully, open, out of direct sun before you store it.

Frequently asked questions

What does the 5 L extension do? The top of the main compartment extends under the lid, so you can pack about 5 litres more on a longer trip.

Can I carry a sleeping mat outside? Yes. The front and side straps hold a rolled mat, trekking poles and a tent.
