Choosing traction

Ice cleats and spikes are for icy paths and packed snow on ordinary boots; crampons with front points are for steep ice and snow and need stiff boots made for them. Check the shoe sizes each size fits, and take them off on rock and indoors.

Five toothed studs under the ball of the foot

  • Toothed studs: Each of the five steel studs has a serrated rim that bites into ice and packed snow.
  • Pull-on fit: Hook the cup over the toe, then stretch the loop behind your heel; nothing to buckle.
  • Light to carry: At a listed 100 g (supplier-stated), they roll up small enough for a coat pocket.
  • Two sizes, three packs: Choose S or L by shoe size, and one, two or four pairs for the household.

The studs cover the forefoot only, so your heel has no grip: on steep ice, step flat and keep your weight forward. They are for icy paths and packed snow, not for mountaineering.

Which size do I need? Take S for EU shoe sizes 29 to 34 and L for EU sizes 35 to 45.

Do they cover the whole sole? No. The studs sit under the ball of the foot, and a rubber loop holds the cleat at the heel.

Can I wear them over trainers? Yes. The stretch rubber fits over trainers, walking shoes and boots in the size range.
